What are Green Roofs?
A Green Roof completed for an Auckland resident’s beautiful sustainable home.
Essentially a Greenroof is plants and vegetation growing on a roof. Depending on the roof type, size and slope it is possible to install a wide variety of plants on the roof. These plants are mainly centred on a plant type called “sedum”. However normal grass types, trees, shrubs and wildflowers may also be installed.
Greenroofs Ltd were the first company in this country to offer a comprehensive green roof service.
We offer:
- a selection of indigenous New Zealand Plants.
- sedum or New Zealand native plants.
- schemes tailored to the NZ climate.
- a complete service offering design, installation and maintenance of the greenroof, nationwide.
Our main area of expertise is in the design, supply, installation and maintenance of lightweight roof planting systems (known as “extensive”). As well as being visually attractive, these systems have a number of environmental advantages.
