For years, the owners, Sheryl and Gary Dawson, had looked out of their kitchen window onto the boring flat roof of their garage. They asked the team at Greenroofs to convert it into an aesthetically pleasing and biodiverse green space. The clients desired a low-maintenance solution that would enhance their outdoor view and attract local wildlife.
This green roof covers an area of 55m² on top of the garage. The use of Sempergreen click ‘n go trays significantly simplified the installation process, making it a quick and efficient project. These green roof trays incorporate a mix of hardy sedum and succulent species, typical for extensive green roofs, chosen for their resilience, low water demands, and ability to thrive in various conditions.
The primary focus of this green roof was to create an attractive visual amenity and to foster local biodiversity. The owners now enjoy observing the daily changes in the plants and flowers, along with the increased presence of birds, insects, and bees, highlighting the ecological benefits of the installation.
Sheryl and Gary Dawson are reportedly “thrilled” with their green roof, noting the consistent presence of birds and the enjoyable process of watching the plants grow and change. The project successfully addressed their desire for an improved view and a more vibrant, natural environment around their home.
