Piha Sleepout Green Roof

This intimate green roof project is situated on the roof of a sleepout, functioning as an Airbnb, in the scenic coastal town of Piha. As the New Zealand partners for Sempergreen, Greenroofs installed this green roof using the innovative Sempergreen click ‘n go trays, which are pre-grown at our nursery in Tamahere, ensuring immediate coverage and vibrancy.

This green roof covers a compact area of 7.5m² (2.5m x 3m). The roof garden enhances the aesthetic appeal of a small roof area on a sleepout, providing a natural, low-maintenance green space that integrates with the coastal environment.

We exclusively utilised Sempergreen click ‘n go trays, a pre-cultivated system that allows for rapid installation and instant coverage. The pre-growing process at our nursery in Tamahere ensures robust, established plants ready for immediate deployment. This system is ideal for smaller, accessible roof areas where ease and speed of installation are paramount.

The use of Sempergreen click ‘n go trays significantly simplified the installation process, making it a quick and efficient project. The pre-grown nature of the trays ensured instant visual impact and a high percentage of coverage from day one.
